FAQs
What insurance companies do you work with?
I work with Aetna and Cigna that are partners with Alma. See the full list at the Alma. If you are covered by TRICARE West or BlueCross Blue Shield please contact me, as I have separate contractual agreements with those providers.
How do I know if my insurance will cover therapy sessions?
There are several factors that going into insurance companies covering the cost of therapy. You can check your coverage with Alma. If you don’t want to deal with insurance, contact me.
Will there be any out-of-pocket costs?
It depends. I recommend reading How to Pay for Therapy Without Insurance Coverage, How to save on mental health treatment if insurance won't pay, and What if my insurance doesn’t cover therapy to decide what is best for your situation. I currently do not offer therapy sessions on a sliding scale. However, please contact me to have a discussion about other alternatives.
Why did I get charged for a session that is covered by insurance?
Insurance companies change their coverage policies from time to time. Most of the time those changes aren’t noticed until a claim is made. It’s possible that you could be covered one month and not the next. It’s easier said than done but I recommend reaching out to your provider to ask about changes or keep an eye on updates through email or regular mail.
What is your cancellation and no-show policy?
You are responsible for the entire fee if cancellation is less than 48 hours in advance. I cannot bill insurance for a session that did not take place. If you late cancel late or no show more than twice, I will discharge you from services and refer you to an alternate community resource
What if I can’t afford your rate?
A discounted rate is available for auto-pay. Should that not be enough help, I recommend contacting me to discuss potential alternatives.
